# Cortex overview

Cortex is an ISP operations platform in development. It is being built to bring network context, customer impact, and coordinated work together while keeping operators in control.

## The operating idea

ISP teams already have alerts, tickets, customer systems, network tools, and field updates. During a service issue, the difficult part is often rebuilding the same situation across all of them. Cortex is designed to help the team form a shared picture, prepare the next steps, and keep evidence and ownership connected as work moves forward.

## An illustrative workflow

1. **Understand:** Bring network observations and customer reports into one view, with evidence and uncertainty shown clearly.
2. **Prepare:** Operations teammates assemble investigation context, suggested next steps, and a draft customer update.
3. **Review:** An operator reviews proposed work. Actual system changes remain subject to local policy and authorization.

## Operations teammates

- **Operations Commander:** Keeps the investigation aligned and assembles the decision package.
- **Network Analyst:** Interprets topology, telemetry, provenance, and likely fault domains.
- **Customer Care Lead:** Connects the network situation to customer impact and prepares clear communication drafts.

## Control and integration direction

Cortex is designed to work alongside existing network and customer systems. The Cloud coordinates shared work and analysis. Cortex Edge is designed to keep credentials and execution control at the ISP. Humans govern permissions and approvals.

## Where Cortex is today

Cortex is in development. HVGTEC is already using and field-testing its Crew Attendance module. Wider availability and other supported integrations will be confirmed separately.
